Pre-Deployment/Reporting Instructions
Each TTOS class is a mixture of classroom and fieldwork. Students should be prepared for physical activity (including a lot of walking) as well as for inclement weather—only heavy rain will delay training, and even then only for a while. Please bring note-taking material (though you will be issued a student handbook the morning of the first day). Whether you are military or civilian law enforcement, the following list is a good guideline of what you will need during your training evolution:
- Field uniform(s) (BDU type or similar, in preferred military or civilian camouflage pattern or plain OD) NO black please; Mossy Oak, NatGear, etc. are acceptable
- Boots—must be broken in and problem free (all students should make every effort to have at least one pair of non-military pattern boots)
- Hat—soft cover, cap or boonie style
- Inclement weather/rain gear
- Load-bearing equipment or tactical vest (NOT black)
- Canteens, water bottles, Camelback, etc.
- Compass—wrist type preferred
- Binoculars—no larger than 8x power preferred
- GPS if desired
- Day Pack/Assault Pack
- Sunscreen
- Personal First Aid Kit
- ‘Eyes & Ears’ for shooting iteration
- Earmuffs or plugs
- Camouflage paint/cream
- *Weapon (long gun; AR15, M4, Shotgun, etc.) *If students are bringing their own
- Ammunition for classes involving live fire—minimum of 30 shells for shotguns or 120 rounds of 5.56mm/.223 caliber or .308/7.62mm.
NOTE: Civilian law enforcement personnel may carry their handgun, however they will NOT be a part of the training cycle and should never leave the holster unless there is an emergency.
Optional Items:
